"ADHD is not a problem to be fixed, but a characteristic to be understood and harnessed for success."
What is ADHD and why did we choose it?
ADHD is a neurological condition characterized by attention difficulty, hyperactivity and impulsiveness, most commonly diagnosed in childhood. 11% of the world has ADHD, officially. However, so many children are not diagnosed because of societal taboos.
Neurological conditions are often overlooked while designing in technology. We wanted to make a tailor-made app for our participant with ADHD who wanted a better task management tool to organize their personal life better.
Getting to know our participant
Since this was supposed to be a co-design project, we recruited one participant and interviewed them about their daily challenges as a person with ADHD. We talked about some key tasks that they wanted to accomplish to organize their life better. Their "Wants" are:
Co-Designing the Concept
We conducted 3 rounds of co-design sessions with our participant. In the first two rounds, we did "Layered Elaboration" where we asked the participant what they liked, disliked and would change about our initial sketches.

Then we sketched a concept with our participant and asked them to think out loud while sketching

So, what did we come up with?
Starting with Low Fidelity Sketches

Deciding Key Features
You can track EVERYTHING!
The app lets you track your tasks, the time you took to complete a task, meals and even your thoughts after you are done with a task. The more you track, the more efficient the app is!

Take care of your pet!
I included a pet avatar which you can customize after winning points from tasks. This keeps users motivated to complete their existing tasks and add more. The avatars are also cute and make animal noises!

Journalling helps
Journalling has proved to be effective for people with ADHD and has helped them regroup their thoughts. Users can write about their tasks after doing them and reflect back later.
